NUTLEY, NJ — A New Jersey mom facing child endangerment charges after her young daughter allegedly suffered burns while using a tanning booth, says she’s a great mother.
According to TMZ-(Click to hear the interview) Patricia Krentcil believes she’s the victim of a witch hunt.
Krentcil, 44, was arrested last week and faces second-degree child endangerment charges after she allegedly let her five-year-old daughter use a stand-up tanning booth.
The girl reportedly told a school nurse that she was in pain after she went “tanning with mommy.”
Under New Jersey law, it’s illegal for anyone under the age of 14 to use a tanning facility. Anyone under the age of 18 needs parental consent to use a tanning bed.
In an interview with WCBS-TV, Krentcil, who appears extremely tanned, that it was just a misunderstanding and that her child’s burns were a result of playing outside on a sunny day.
Krentcil says that the child had been in the room at the tanning salon, but had not entered the tanning booth.
“It didn’t happen,” Krentcil told WCBS. “It’s preposterous.”
The salon has not yet been charged in the case, WNYW-TV reports.
