LEE’S SUMMIT, Mo. — A Lee’s Summit baby died after its mother found the infant unresponsive as she was driving home on Thursday afternoon.

According to Lee’s Summit Police, the mother of the infant stopped her vehicle in the intersection of SW Wintercreek Drive and SW Wintercreek Boulevard around 4:30 p.m. after she found that her baby had stopped breathing. The mother called 911 and tried life-saving measures, but the child was dead by the time police and firefighters arrived on the scene.

The identity of the mother and child have not been released. According to police, the child’s body was taken by the Jackson County Medical Examiner and the car was taken by police.

Police say that they do not suspect foul play at this time.
