KANSAS CITY, Mo. — American Idol winner and Blue Springs native David Cook has returned home in time for the All-Star festivities. Cook said the first thing he did when he arrived in Kansas City was grab some taquitos from Quik Trip.
Cook played in Sunday’s celebrity softball game at Kauffman Stadium and will sing the National Anthem Monday night to kick off the Home Run Derby. Cook said it’s always an honor to sing the National Anthem, but admits he gets nervous.
“If you screw it up, you’re YouTube fodder for the next 20 years,” he said.
Cook said he’ll miss the All Star game Tuesday because he flies to Asia for a concert in the Philippines. Cook said he’s currently writing new music and working on his third album.
