KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Broadcasting legend Walt Bodine died Sunday morning at the age of 92, according to his Web site, waltbodine.com.

Born in 1920, Bodine’s media career included stints in radio and television — including time as news director, anchor and reporter for WDAF-TV and radio.  In all, he spent 70+ years in Kansas City media until his retirement from public radio station KCUR-FM in 2012.

The site stated that plans for a memorial service and public celebration will be announced later this week.  KCUR reported that Bodine’s body will be donated to science to advance research on macular degeneration.  The disease left Bodine blind late in life.

FOX 4 FILES: Walt Bodine’s last radio show, and a Tess Koppelman interview from 2010.
