KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Longview Lake Park is gearing up for Christmas in the Park’s 26th year. More than 300,000 lights and 175 animated displays will transform the park into a Winter Wonderland for 2013.

Christmas in the Park is open November 21-Jan 2. Hours of operation are listed below:

  • Sunday-Thursday 5:30 p.m.-10:00 p.m;
  • Friday and Saturday 5:30 p.m. – 11:00 p.m.

Admission to “Christmas In The Park” is free, but donations are accepted for local charities.

Every year, a new and exciting display is added to Christmas In The Park. This year, guests will enjoy Santa flying 30-feet above the ground in an airplane delivering gifts to anxious children below! When he’s not delivering gifts, you’ll find Santa making a 120-foot golf shot. These two attractions alone add an additional 20,000 lights to the Christmas in the Park experience.

Christmas in the Park has become synonymous with benefiting those less fortunate.  While there is no charge for this drive-thru event, donations are accepted with a portion of the proceeds being divided among 35 local charities. Thanks to the generosity of our community, to date donations to local charitable organizations have eclipsed the half-a-million-dollar mark.

Since its opening in 1987, more than two million patrons have made a drive thru Jackson County’s Christmas in the Park part of their annual holiday experience.  In 2013, Christmas In The Park was nominated for a Visitor’s Choice Award as Kansas City’s Favorite Holiday Attraction.
