SEDALIA, Mo. — The Missouri State Highway Patrol is investigating an overnight deputy-involved shooting in Sedalia that left one woman dead.
The highway patrol said around 10 p.m. Saturday, a deputy with the Pettis County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop near U.S. Highway 50 and Winchester Drive.
Preliminary reports say the woman that was stopped refused to identify herself, stated she was armed and verbally threatened to shoot the deputy.
The woman has been identified as Hannah Fizer, 25, of Sedalia, Mo.
The incident escalated and the deputy shot the driver. Officers at the scene rendered first aid and the woman was later pronounced dead.
The deputy was not injured.
The incident remains under investigation by the highway patrol.
