KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Chiefs CEO Clark Hunt sang the praises of Andy Reid in a news conference on Monday.
“In Andy Reid, we’ve already got our first victory,” Hunt said.
After a 2-14 season, Chiefs nation hopes the Andy Reid victories will continue. In his first news conference as the Chiefs head coach, Reid said he’s committed to bringing them.

“I want the fans to see red,” he said. “My job is to produce a productive football team and to win games and that’s what I’m going to start to do.”
Reid also commended fans’ enthusiasm for the Chiefs and said he hopes to build on it.
“The fan base here is phenomenal,” he said. “I came from a fan base that was tremendous and the Kansas City Chiefs fan base — there’s nothing like the sea of red.”
And while the sea of red waits to see how Reid’s coaching skills pan out, big changes come to the organization. During Monday’s news conference, Kansas City learned three things:
1.) Clark Hunt will hire the General Manager. It was speculated that Reid would bring with him Tom Heckert, who worked with Reid from 2001 to 2009 in Philly. That’s not the case — at least not yet. Hunt said they have a list of candidates they’re looking at and hope to hire one soon, however he could not provide a time table.

2.) With the hiring of Andy Reid, the Chiefs organization has been restructured. The head coach and general manager will now report directly to Hunt. In years past, Hunt mainly worked with the GM, however now that Reid is on board, Hunt said he would have more interaction with the head coach than he’s had in years past.
3.) Reid is in the process of assembling his staff. He’s met with the assistant coaches of both his former team and the Chiefs. He said it’s likely some of his former assistant coaches will follow him to Kansas City.
When asked about his departure from the Eagles after 14 years, Reid summed it by saying, “The last couple years weren’t good enough.”
Reid told reporters that he crossed his fingers he’d be offered the job after his nine hour meeting with Clark Hunt and others last week.
Fans are curious about the quarterback position and reporters inquired about his draft strategy, to which he answered, “get good players.”
“The quarterback position. I’m going to dig in and look at that,” he said. “We’ll see how that whole thing works out.”
