KANSAS City, Kan. — Now that the STP 400 is over, local businesses are tracking their sales.  But at least one establishment says their business was down.

With thousands of people visiting Kansas City, businesses by the speedway were pulling out all of the stops to get people to their doors.  But for some, nothing seemed to work.

When the speedway is packed and the engines are roaring, businesses located right across the street are hoping to cash in.

But now everyone is feeling the love.  One of those places, locally-owned Arthur Bryants, which sits right across from the speedway is known for its fall of the bone burnt ends.

“Business drops 40 to 50 percent for the entire weekend,” Arthur Bryants’ Shawn Glazier told FOX 4 News.

And that’s not just this weekend.  Every weekend there’s a race at the speedway, Arthur Bryants sees a drop in business.

“Regular customers don’t want to deal with the traffic, so they tend not to visit on race weekend.  That cuts into business,” Glazier said.

Arthur Bryants says ever since the race track started letting people bring in food, they started seeing a drop in business.

But the restaurant is not giving up.  They say they will keep on doing what they do best and that’s serving up some of Kansas City’s best barbeque.  And they hope the next time there’s a race at the Kansas Speedway, they will see people racing thru the doors.

Unlike other places, Arthur Bryants does not call in extra staff during race weekends, since they say business looks pretty much the same as it does on any given day.
