KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A man is recovering this morning after he was run over by a police car near 19th & Brighton in Kansas City, Mo. Police were dispatched to the area around 4:30 a.m. after getting calls of a man laying in the street. The officer didn’t see the man despite using his flood lights, according to an officer investigating the accident.
A woman said she heard the victim’s very loud screams but couldn’t see anything but the police car when she looked out her bedroom window. After two other police cars responded to the scene, she said those officers helped lift the car off the man.
“He looked like he had cut marks from a knife up and down his arms,” the woman said, “I think he was dumped in the middle of the street after being involved in some sort of fight or something.”
The man described as a black male in his 30s was conscious and talking when he was taken to the hospital with critical injuries Police say he is not from the neighborhood.
