NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. – A 64-year-old man was found by police with stab wounds to his arm, hand and elbow on Monday. According to The Post and Courier, Vernett Bader, 54, was arrested and accused of stabbing the man after he reportedly resisted Bader’s request to turn off music by the Eagles.
The man told police that he and his brother were listening to the Eagles and watching TV when Bader grew angry and insisted she didn’t want to listen to that music. Bader, who is the man’s roommate, reportedly grabbed a serrated knife and swung it at the man. He and his brother were able to wrestle the knife away from her, but she went back into the kitchen for another before the incident was over.
Bader admitted to police that she had stabbed the man, but only because he was choking her. A police report said that no signs of choking were found on her neck. It additionally stated that all three occupants of the home were intoxicated.
Bader is currently being held in the Charleston County jail on a $25,000 bond. She has been charged with domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature according to online court records.
