KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Do you think Kansas City should build a new airport? Monday morning, for the first time, flyers can voice their opinion at a public hearing.
The Kansas City Missouri Airport Terminal Advisory Group is holding a public hearing at 7:30 Monday morning in the City Council Chambers downtown.
Many passengers that travel in and out of KCI say they love the airport because of its convenience. But, supporters of a single terminal airport say while convenient the current configuration is not practical.
Current plans propose tearing down Terminal A to make way for a more consolidated single terminal airport.
Frequent flyer Michael Loy from Pittsburg, Kan., thinks it’s a terrible idea.
“You need to reconsider and leave it just like it is,” he said is what his message would be to city leaders. He said don’t try to fix something that’s not broken.
The advisory group made up of community members from across the Metro will make a recommendation in April of next year to Mayor Sly James and the City Council.
The City Council must approve any new plans regarding the airport’s future. The public must also vote on any change requiring issuing bonds to finance the project.
Monday’s meeting is on the 26th floor of City Hall in the City Council Chambers at 414 East 12th Street in Kansas City, Missouri. It starts at 7:30 a.m.
