GARDNER, Kan. — For about four hours on Thursday, a 40-year-old man refused to come out of his house to talk to police about a reported domestic argument, prompting an Operation 100 to be initiated and the evacuation of neighbors.
Special teams and negotiators from the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office, the Olathe Police and Gardner Police were part of the Op-100.
Police were initially called out at about 6 a.m. on a domestic disturbance call, but the man refused to come out of the house, located at the 32500 block of 174th Terr.
The man allowed others in the house to leave and police say there were never any hostages.
The man eventually surrendered and was arrested peacefully. It’s not clear what the dispute was about or if he was armed at the time. Charges had not been filed.
