KANSAS CITY, Mo. — As they start the new year and prepare for Saturday’s AFC Wildcard game with the Indianapolis Colts, the Kansas City Chiefs got some mixed news when it comes to the health of their football team on Wednesday.

Wide Receiver Dwayne Bowe has been cleared to play, and offensive tackle Eric Fisher had to sit out practice because of a groin injury. Bowe, along with numerous other starters, sat out the regular season finale in San Diego. He had suffered a slight concussion in the home loss to the Colts back on December 22nd.

“I’m just ready to go,” Bowe said during a session with the media before Wednesday’s workout. “You know games like this, big time players and big time games. These are the games that I mostly show up in with everything on the line and great preparation all week. It’s win or go home.”

Bowe isn’t the only member of the team that seems optimistic, as the Chiefs try to end a drought of losing NFL playoff games that stretches back 20 years.

“I think it’s everybody’s mindset. We want to win,” said linebacker Justin Houston, who did not play in the regular season game against the Colts because of an elbow injury.
“Everybody knows it’s playoff time. Win or go home. Everybody’s mindset is we are not ready to go home. As long as we keep practicing the way we are practicing and everybody is putting in extra work in the film room, we are going to be alright.”

After losing to Indianapolis in the home finale at Arrowhead, the Chiefs feel a fresh approach to beating the Colts might help their cause.

“Well yes exactly, everybody knows it’s harder to beat a team the second time, but at the same time we have to take that confidence back that they took when they came to Arrowhead,” said linebacker Derrick Johnson. “They took a little confidence back with them after winning the game. As a defense we know that we can play a lot better so we plan to do that.”
