KANSAS CITY, Mo. — One person is in custody following a shooting that left a man dead on the city’s East Side on Friday evening.

According to authorities, officers were called to the area of 31st and Indiana shortly after 5:00 p.m. where they found an adult male dead in the street of an apparent gunshot wound. Police say that they received information that the suspect in the shooting was seen running from the scene.

That suspect, who was also suffering from a gunshot wound, was arrested a short time later near 30th and Askew. He was taken to a local hospital, and there is no word on his condition.

Police say that they believe that these two men, whose names have not been released, are the only ones involved in the incident. Homicide detectives are investigating the incident.
