LAWRENCE, Kan. — Dozens of University of Kansas students started lining up early Sunday morning for their shot at good seat to Saturday’s final match-up with the University of Missouri at Allen Fieldhouse.
By noon on Monday, 120 groups were already signed up for the ticket process, with each group representing a maximum of 30 people. Friends are taking shifts to make sure someone representing the group is always present and they don’t lose their place in line. Students sit with their backs to the wall, reading and studying and waiting and waiting and waiting until Saturday.
“This game is very important,” said one student fan. “It’s the last one and it’s pretty exciting to be a part of such a tradition. It’s kind of sad to see the rivalry go, but I mean, I’m excited to be part of the last game.”
The camping out is more symbolic than necessary. The students are able to leave at night and can return to their spot in the morning.
The Jayhawks and Tigers play at 3 p.m. Saturday.
