KANSAS CITY, Kan. — Wyandotte County didn’t make the grade again this year when it comes to being healthy. The unified government is working to correct it with a food summit
The food summit, held at the Technical Education Center in Kansas City, Kan., will try to work on making the healthy choice the easy choice.
Recent statistics show Wyandotte County with some of the worst health outcomes in Kansas. The ratings take into consideration childhood poverty, smoking, obesity, healthy foods and levels of physical activity.
In Kansas, Johnson County tops the list at No. 1. Wyandotte County is No. 96 out of 98, which is actually better than last year when they were at the bottom of the list.
The food summit is a kickoff to a three-year plan to increase vegetable and fruit consumption.
