KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Some Kansas City kids are literally getting their hands dirty as they participate in a program at the zoo. Kids,  and adults as well, can be assigned the job of ‘mini-zookeeper’ for some hands-on training.

“We even have some adult programs too. adults can even come and they can be a part of our amazing  Africa program and they can be dirty too. they can do a little cleaning too,” said Allison Jones, Kansas City Zoo Education instructor.

The zoo says the program also teaches participants about preparing diets and learning the basics of animal handling and conservation.  There are three age categories: Mini Zookeepers ages 7 – 12; Junior Zookeepers ages 13-18 and Adult Zookeepers ages 19 and above.

The cost is $145 at regular pricing for Mini and Junior and $290 for Adult. Each participant will receive: T-shirt, nametag, bottle of water, & lunch.   To learn more about the zoo programs, click here.
