EL SEGUNDO, Calif. — After surveillance video captured a woman starting a fire in the coastal town of El Segundo, Calif., authorities believe she may be a suspect in several other fires in the area.
In the video, a dark haired woman is seen smoking a cigarette. Moments later she bends over and shortly after, a fire erupts.
The city of El Segundo is investigating several other fires, three of which happened on Sunday, Aug. 24.
“Yes, the fire department has responded to each incident and no one has been hurt and they have been relatively small fires,” Sgt. Hugo Perez, El Segundo Police Department, said. “What we’re worried about is this person could potentially light a building on fire and someone could get hurt or killed.”
In two of those cases, churches were set on fire.
