KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The KCI Airport Terminal B was evacuated due to a credible bomb threat on Sunday evening.

A spokesperson for the airport said one individual is in custody after claiming to have placed a bomb in a car in the parking lot. Passengers who were in Terminal B were sent to Terminal C, while the FBI, Kansas City Police Department Bomb Squad, and the Kansas City Fire Department were investigating the scene.

Around 8:30 p.m. patrons were finally given the all clear by officials, and began the process of returning to Terminal B.

“It’s scary. I’m with all of my siblings right now and it’s very terrifying when you’re in a situation and you’re not really sure what’s going on, and on the bus there were a lot of people trying to joke and make light of the situation, but I think deep down, we’re all a little scared of what might have happened,” said Emily Fletcher who was one of the many evacuated from KCI’s Terminal B.

Airport officials remind anyone who is supposed to be flying out of Terminal B that there will be delays on Sunday night while airport employees return to their respective posts.

Investigators have not released any additional details at this time.
