TOPEKA, Kan. — A man who was critically injured by the EF-2 tornado that ripped through the small town of Harveyville, Kan., on Tuesday died of his injuries in a Topeka, hospital on Wednesday.
Richard D. Slade, 53, was pulled from the wreckage of his home following Tuesday night’s tornado and was transported by air ambulance to Stormont-Vail Emergency and Trauma Center in Topeka.

Slade remained in critical condition and the decision was made on Wednesday afternoon to take him off life support. Slade reportedly passed away Wednesday evening.
Slade is the only person in Harveyville to have lost his life. The extent of other people’s injuries in Harveyville are not known at this time.
Missouri tornado damage
In Missouri, one woman died after a tornado ripped through the small town of Buffalo, Mo. In Cassville, a 70-year-old man died when he was sucked out of his mobile home. Information on a third person who reportedly died in Missouri has not been made available.

In Branson, Mo., no deaths were reported, but 41 people were injured and a number of the city’s famous theaters along the Missouri Highway 76 strip suffered extensive damage. The city of Branson said they are accepting help from volunteers. If interested, click here.
