KANSAS CITY, Mo. — FOX 4 News anchor Nick Vasos chats with personal trainer Derek McQuinn, formally WLW wrestling’s “Dangerous Derek,” WWE three time tag team champion Trevor Murdoch, and five-year-old Bo Macan talk about their upcoming event and how it all got started.

About Bo Macan:

Macan, who is a type 1 insulin dependent diabetic, suffers from seizures on top of that having no immune system. Every two weeks he receives immune globulin therapy (IVIG), and as a result is confined to his home where he has a nurse there with him five days a week.

For him, getting a common cold can cause him a stay of two months in the hospital. In 2014 he spent 163 out of 365 days in the hospital. Typically one thing turned into another causing a domino effect.

He and his family have been to NIH in Maryland two times and will likely go three to six times this year. His family says that his medical team at KU Med, and Macan’s head doctor, Dr. Mike Lewis, are simply amazing and say they are the reason he has made it as far as he has.
