Slidell, LA (WGNO) — A Slidell couple is facing cruelty to juvenile charges for allegedly pouring beer down a 1-year-old’s throat then slapping him when he vomited.
A complaint was filed when the child’s grandfather noticed signs of abuse to his grandson. After questioning friends and family, investigators discovered the mother’s boyfriend Brett Flower, 24, had poured beer down the toddler’s throat on several occasions.
The toddler would then choke or vomit the beer up. That is when the victim’s mother, 23-year-old Krysten Verdin would slap the child on the back of the head usually causing him to fall.
Both Flowers and Verdin were booked into the Slidell City Jail Tuesday, February, 24, 2015 and were later transported to the St. Tammany Parish Jail.
The case is also being investigated by the Department of Children and Family Services.
