KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Tyrese Gully was just at the Country Club Plaza to catch a movie. But it was his car that ended up on camera, and he’s not happy about it.
While Gully was inside the theater, a group of teens damaged his car—along with several others—with a strange new prank that’s going viral across the internet called “Put ‘Em in a Coffin,” in which they run up to a car, jump in the air and land on the hood on their backs.
In a video posted to the KCPD Facebook page, a group of teens is seen doing just that. It was in this video that Gully recognized his car.
“The damage is right here,” said Gully. “They kind of jumped on it right here, as you can see there’s a dent right here.”
Gully said he had no idea his car was damaged until he saw the video.
“I seen the video on Facebook and was like, ‘Hey that’s my car,'” said Gully.
The video had more than 90,000 views and 2,000 shares in less than 24 hours. Police say that they are often led straight to the suspects because the part of the prank is to post the video online.
Authorities say that several juveniles were caught in the act in the Plaza incidents, in which three cars—including Gully’s—were damaged. There is no word on charges.
A curfew will go into effect starting the Friday before Memorial Day that bans anyone 17 or younger from being outside without an adult after 9:00 p.m.
