KANSAS CITY, Mo. — While Royals players have their sights set on a World Championship, some visitors at The K, have their sights set on helping Kansas City grow.

Cheryl Mace, the manager of a new Facebook page, wants to challenge people living in the metro to donate to their favorite charity every time the Royals touch home plate. Mace says people can even select the charity.

She says she has nothing at stake in this challenge, which she calls ‘Crown Us a Kinder KC.’

The idea came to Mace while she was watching a recent Royals broadcast. She says she imagined a fraction of baseball’s budget being spent to help people in the metro.

“I don’t collect any money,” Cheryl Mace said.  “It doesn’t go through me at all. It’s just a challenge to the viewers and the Royals fans and to let America know the heart of our city is the boys in blue, and we’re a city with a heart.”

Mace says her vision is to see the metro’s underprivileged people find their basic needs met, and she hopes this social media challenge will help.
