MARYVILLE, Mo. — A student was found dead at Northwest Missouri State University on Sunday.

According to a press release by the university, freshman Haily Hayes was reportedly found dead by her roommate in their residence on campus early Sunday morning.

The Nodaway County coroner’s office, Maryville Public Safety and university police are conducting an investigation.

Nodoway County Coroner Dr. Vincent Shelby said Hayes’s body has not been sent for autopsy, and it could take 8-10 weeks before reports are in to determine her cause of death. The university said no foul play is suspected.

Hayes, originally from Oak Grove, Mo., was studying business management and was a member of the Sigma Kappa sorority.

The university is planning a gathering for Hayes on Monday at 7 p.m. at the J.W. Jones Student Union Boardroom.
