KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Kansas City Police are investigating a deadly accident that claimed the life of one person. A pedestrian was struck and killed on northbound I-435 just south of the Blue Parkway on Friday night around 11:30 p.m.

Officers do not believe the driver was impaired or distracted. The victim was a 55-year-old man from Raytown. His name has not been released.

Another pedestrian accident happened around 3:15 a.m. on Saturday in Independence. A woman wearing dark clothing walked into the road near Lee’s Summit Rd. & I-70. The woman was taken to the hospital after being hit by a car.

The woman later died at the hospital. The driver of the car remained at the scene and cooperated with police.

Police will continue to investigate both incidents.
