OVERLAND PARK, Kan. — Honk! Honk! Parents, haul the kids over to the third annual Touch-a-Truck event at the Overland Park Convention Center on Sunday, June 24 from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m.
Event admission is free with two (2) non?perishable food donations per person to Harvesters. The first 200 families to enter will receive a Swag Bag filled with coupons and gifts from several local restaurants, stores and entertainment venues.
Presented by KCPT, 99.7 The Point , 106.5 The Wolf and Santa Fe Tow Service, Touch-a-Truck will be a fun, hands on and educational event for kids of all ages to see their favorite trucks up close including: Overland Park Fire Department truck, Overland Park Police Department car and motorcycle, Children’s Mercy ambulance, John Deere combine, tractor and spreader provided by the Johnson County Extension Office, a giant Santa Fe Tow truck, a HUGE dump truck and backhoes provided by Turner Construction, Harvesters truck, Carter Energy Trailer, Bob Allen Ford trucks, military vehicles from various eras provided by Kansas City Hell on Wheels Chapter of MVPA and KCPT’s production trailer. Each vehicle will have an interactive, entertaining, and educational game or activity along with their truck on display.
Touch-a-Truck welcomes special guests Stonelion Puppet Theatre for two shows at 12:30 p.m. and 2 p.m., face?painting from 2-3 p.m. with Macaroni Kid, and Touch-a-Microphone with The Point and The Wolf. Interactive activities by Deanna Rose Farmstead, Overland Park Arboretum, Southwest Dairy Farmers, KC Metro Moms, Midtown Athletic Club and Secure Counseling Clinic add an educational twist.
The KC Pumpkin Patch Express will be “choo-chooing” its way through the Ballroom while Games2U mobile entertainment will bring out the kid in everyone.
