LEE’S SUMMIT, Mo. — Police are investigating after a man’s body was found in a storm retention pond in Lee’s Summit on Saturday morning.

According to authorities, police and medical crews were called to the 300 block of NE Rice Road shortly before 9:00 a.m. on the report of a body in a storm water retention pond located east of Langsford Road and NE Rice Road.

Police say that the initial investigation shows no signs of foul play. The victim is described as a white male in his late 30’s or early 40’s. Detectives at the scene say that they found items at the scene that indicate that the man was spending time on the bank of the pond.

The identity of the man has not been released. The Jackson County Medical Examiner’s Office is working to determine the exact cause of death.
