Sharifa Jackson

Sharifa Jackson joined the FOX4 News team as a reporter in April of 2019.

With southern roots, Sharifa is excited for the new adventure in Kansas City.

Before coming to Kansas City, Sharifa worked as a reporter and anchor for WTVM and WXTX, the ABC and FOX affiliates in Columbus, Georgia. Sharifa spent two years in the market covering national news, and some of the biggest stories of the community. During her time in Columbus, Sharifa covered the devastating tornadoes in East Alabama killing 23 people, she was selected by Georgia Department of Corrections as a media witness to one of Georgia’s only executions in 2018, and covered a brutal triple homicide case killing three family members from beginning to end.

Her stories have been featured on ABC, Good Morning America, and CNN and The Weather Channel.

Sharifa got her start as a journalist in Columbus, where she worked behind the scenes as a production assistant, and learned all aspects of news. Her first on-air opportunity as a reporter was in Dothan, Alabama where she started out shooting and editing her own stories.

A Virginia native, Sharifa attended Columbus State University where she graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s in Mass Media Communications, and a minor in English Professional Writing. She was inducted into the national communications honor society, Lambda Pi Eta in 2014. She is an active member of National Association of Black Journalists, and a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha, Sorority, Incorporated.

In her spare time, Sharifa likes to shop, travel, and spend time with family.

If you see her around Kansas City, stop her and say hello, and feel free to message her with any story ideas at Sharifa.Jackson@fox4kc.com.
