KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Kansas City firefighters aren’t afraid to wear pink.  They’re taking part in a fundraiser for breast cancer research in October and you can help them out.

Michael Cambiano, a firefighter and the president of Firefighters Union 42 along with Cathy Taylor, the organizer of the annual event, appeared on Monday’s FOX 4 Morning Show to talk about their efforts of having 1,000 Kansas City firefighters wear pink for breast cancer awareness.

In the past seven years, the event has raised more than $250,000 for breast cancer research.  Event organizers hope to reach their goal of $50,000 for this year.

The Breast Cancer Awareness Foundation will hold their fundraising and celebration from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 24 at the Westin Kansas City.
