Christina Sell from Catholic Charities of Greater Kansas City shares more on the state-wide program called, “Love Letters from Kansas.”
Between National Marriage Week and Valentine’s Day, February is the most romantic month of the year, and there is a statewide relationship organization that can help your viewers experience a healthy relationship!
Love Letters from Kansas, which offers free workshops year round to both singles and couples, is currently holding their first Date Night Giveaway to give one lucky pair a night out at one of Kansas’ top restaurants.
In celebration of Valentine’s Day and National Marriage Week this February, a local public awareness campaign working to strengthen and enrich relationships across Kansas, Love Letters from Kansas, has launched a special date night giveaway contest on Facebook. Love Letters from Kansas is a statewide public awareness campaign sponsored by Catholic Charities of Kansas.
This date night giveaway contest invites dating, engaged and married couples to upload a photo of their relationship — a photo of themselves, a location that’s particularly meaningful to them as a couple, a love note (post it, text message or letter), etc. Contestants are then asked to explain in the photo caption why they deserve to win the date night giveaway. The submission period ends on February 14th and will be followed by a public vote to determine the winner. Catholic Charities of Kansas will distribute a $125 gift card to a Kansas-based restaurant of the winner’s choice.
“Life gets busy for many couples and when that happens date nights are often the first to go,” said Melissa Grelinger, interim executive director, Catholic Charities, Diocese of Wichita. “Catholic Charities of Kansas tries to find every opportunity for couples to reconnect, whether that’s by participating in our free relationship education workshops or through a fun photo contest that asks them to reflect on why they value each other. Every time a couple can remind themselves of the importance of their relationship, their bond grows stronger.”
In October 2011, Catholic Charities of Kansas received a $1.4 million grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Administration for Children and Families, Office of Family Assistance to provide free relationship education workshops and services to meet family needs throughout Kansas. Catholic Charities of Kansas offers relationship education workshops and services through its research based Marriage for Keeps program.
These workshops are open to married couples, engaged couples, dating couples and single adults in Dodge City, Garden City, Great Bend, Wichita, Pittsburg, Salina, Manhattan, Junction City, Ft. Riley, Topeka, Lawrence, Emporia and Kansas City. Spanish speaking workshops are offered in Dodge City, Garden City, Wichita, Salina, Topeka, Lawrence and Kansas City. Since 2007, more than 3,000 Kansans have participated in the Marriage for Keeps program.
