KANSAS CITY, MO — BREAKING DAWN PART 2
SHAWN
Bella played by Kristen Stewart is a vampire now. And we get to see how she adjusts to her new lifestyle as a firestorm is a brewing in the best of the five “Twilight” movies.
RUSS
Yes, one of the most popular movie franchies of all time comes to a rousing end. Although the dialogue is laughably silly, director Bill Condon pulls some cinematic slight of hand at the movie’s climax that saves it.
SHAWN
Beautifully shot. Masterfully directed. And a stunning kick butt ending that is an absolute jaw-dropper.
RUSS
Parents, even thought the movie is rated PG-13, it definitely deserves an “R” rating for violence. But Twi-hards who go for the books’ ethereal romance will still enjoy it.

LINCOLN
SHAWN
Steven Spielberg’s “Lincoln” is one of the most authentic biographical dramas ever produced. It’s also one of the most boring movies ever made.
RUSS
Admittedly, if you’re looking for action and a snappy pace, you’ll be disappointed. But “Lincoln” is for those who savor great acting and dialogue, not for those with a short attention span.
SHAWN
It’s soulless, cold and disconcerting. Imagine if C-Span existed back in 1865.
RUSS
It’s austere, but not at all soulless. In fact, the Oscar-caliber screenplay has lots of heart.
SHAWN
The production is flawless. The acting is superb. But focusing only on the behind the scenes maneuvering of what it took to ratify the 13th amendment of the constitution puts a strain on the limits of an attention span.
RUSS
It’s far from perfect, but “Lincoln” is riveting in it’s own quiet way.
SHAWN
Also by deciding to omit any elements of the horrid institution of slavery, the single issue that drives the movie, is a huge mistake. It would be like watching “Schindler’s List” and watching Mr. Schindler map out his plan for saving the Jews but never showing them in the concentration camp.
RUSS
Perhaps. It’s not a great movie, but it’s still an interesting and honorable one.
SHAWN
Sure Daniel Day-Lewis is great. And yes, Sally Field is a marvel to watch. And Tommy Lee Jones thoroughly steals every scene with an exceptional performance. But at the end of the day watching the movie is like watching The Presidents Exhibit in Disney World. Robotic. I want my two fives back and a copy of “Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter” on DVD which is a far more entertaining movie.
