6 KC residents killed in Okla. crash

MAZIE, Okla. — Six Kansas City residents are dead after their vehicle struck a semi head-on early Saturday morning in Mazie, Okla., a town about 40 miles outside Tulsa.

The vehicle was traveling south on U.S. 69 when the driver of a 2015 Honda Odyssey lost control and crossed the center median into the northbound lanes, before striking the oncoming semi. The victims were all from Kansas City.

Among the victims were two men aged 34 and 32, a 31-year-old woman, a woman of unknown age, and two children: a 1-year-old boy and a 3-year-old boy. Three passengers were pinned in the vehicle for almost two hours, according to the report. Two victims, including one of the juveniles, were ejected from the vehicle.

Authorities identified the adult victims as 34-year-old Agni Pai Singh, 32-year-old Bhaskar Jha, and 31-year-old Annu Jha.

A seventh passenger, a juvenile, also from Kansas City, survived the crash and was transported to a Tulsa hospital in serious condition.

The driver of the semi was also taken to a Tulsa hospital with non-serious injuries.

Seatbelts were reportedly used in both vehicles, and child restraints were used in the Odyssey.
