DRAKESVILLE, Iowa — This may be among the largest animal hoarding cases the state of Iowa has seen. Authorities found 322 animals in one home.
The home is in southeastern Iowa is near the city of Ottumwa.
The Animal Rescue League is trying to care for, and find homes for 30 different kinds of animals.
The homeowner had rabbits, roosters, dogs, cats, pigeons, mice, sheep, pigs, and even a skunk and a ferret in the same cage.
“If we have enthusiasts, people with a passion for specific animals, let us know,” said Josh Colvin of the Animal Rescue League.
At least 60 of the animals have already died. Rescuers found some of them frozen in the snow.
Nearby farmers already adopted all of the roosters.
