KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A police chase ended with one wrecked car and four people in custody Wednesday afternoon.
Kansas City police officer Robert Evans said the short pursuit began as part of an ongoing investigation. Evans said while the car was still traveling about 35 miles per hour, one of the four suspects jumped out near 33rd and Genessee. He was not seriously injured. The vehicle crashed a short time later near 35th and Genessee. Evans said after the crash, two of the suspects jumped out and ran into a nearby backyard where they were apprehended. A third suspect was caught about a block away. Evans said of the four arrested, one was a 15-year-old boy.
Inside the car police found crack and marijuana. Police also recovered three semi-automatics and one revolver.
Evans said police are stepping up their efforts to eliminate any kind of gang activity.
“We’re out here, we’re coming for them,” he said. “We don’t want this activity anymore, and we’re going to do everything we can to deter it.”
