KANSAS CITY, Mo. — AT&T announced Thursday that it is offering a $100,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for killing AT&T technician Kevin Mashburn on Wednesday.
Who Violently Attacked an AT&T Utility Worker?
Kevin Mashburn, 58, was discovered severely assaulted after a Gladstone homeowner called police at about 3:30 a.m. on Wednesday. The homeowner saw Mashburn’s truck parked in a yard in the 2700 block of 57th Terrace.
Police say that officers had to break the driver’s side window to get the Mashburn out of the locked vehicle. Authorities say Mashburn contacted his dispatch operator to report that he was being attacked, and the dispatch operator then contacted 911.
“AT&T is committed to doing all it can to assist in bringing anyone involved in the death of Kevin Mashburn to justice,” said AT&T Missouri President John Sondag. “Kevin devoted his entire adult working life to AT&T, and was widely admired by his colleagues. His sudden, tragic passing is deeply felt here at AT&T, and we want to again offer our deepest condolences to Kevin’s family and many friends.”
Mashburn worked at AT&T for 41 years. The company says he was a Communications Workers of America Union Steward and an active participant in the United Way. He also received the Service Excellence Award in 2011 for the work that he did involving the restoration of vital services to Joplin, Mo., following a devastating tornado.
