PLATTE COUNTY, Mo. — Investigators say around 10 a.m. on Friday morning a man was passing by a remote, rural area near East Dye Store Road in northern Platte County, when he discovered Tangela Fisher dead near a dried up creek. Her body was inside a “homemade style box” with various sizes of men’s and women’s clothing. See pictures of the box at the bottom of this story.
“She was a very good person. Very nice and very loving,” said Travis Griese about his sister, Tangela Fisher. Travis said he last talked to his younger sister around Labor Day. “She came to my place to watch my dog. Everything seemed to be okay with her.”
The 35-year-old Fisher was a mother of three children, ranging from six to 16 years old. Relatives said she was also bipolar.
“Well, it’s got to be devastating for her kids as it is for me,” Griese said. “I had to break the awful news to our family. I just want to know what happened. I could see if she died in the hospital or something like that, but to find her body lying out in the middle of nowhere, that’s tough. They’ve not even told us how long she’s been dead or anything like that.”
Investigators are waiting for Fisher’s autopsy results to tell them how she died.
“It’s a big mystery. Nobody seems to know. I just can’t believe it, ” said Robert Fisher, Tangela’s ex-husband.
The couple had been married for almost two years. They divorced two months ago.
Fisher, a St. Joe roofer, said on Monday detectives interviewed him at work about his ex-wife’s suspicious death.
“They told me what happened to her. It’s painful because I loved her. Nobody deserves that. I have no idea, not even a clue,” said Robert Fisher.
FOX 4 was there Monday afternoon when detectives with the St. Joseph Police Department searched Tangela Fisher’s apartment for clues. At this point, the case is being investigated by the Kansas City Metro Squad and the Platte County Sheriff’s Department as a suspicious death investigation.
“I’m doing everything I can to help detectives find out what happened to my sister, ” says Travis Griese, who’s now planning her funeral.
Anyone with information about the death of Tangela Fisher is asked to call the TIPS Hotline at (816) 474-TIPS (8477) or the Metro Squad information line at (816) 858-3396.
