GLADSTONE, Mo. – Deputies were still on the lookout for a man, Monday, who fled from authorities on Sunday night.
Around 7:30 p.m. the Platte County Sheriff’s Office confirmed a manhunt was underway after a suspect fled from being pulled over near 169 Highway and 68th Street.
Platte County officers said they attempted to pulled over a black male in his 20’s driving a silver Ford Taurus, who did not stop during a traffic violation on I-29 southbound. Deputies chased him at speeds close to 100 mph. The suspect then fled the scene in his vehicle until he was involved in a possible accident. He then fled that scene on foot, and ran into a nearby wooded area behind the Broadway Ridge Apartments located near 68th and Wyandotte.
Police say the man was wearing blue gym shorts and no shirt. Witnesses last saw him running eastbound from the 6900 block of Broadway.
Residents of the apartments say they have seen the man’s car there before but its unclear if he lives there. The name of the suspect has not yet been released. Deputies were using a K-9 to search through woods for the suspect late Sunday night.
