LEE’S SUMMIT, Mo. — Jackson County prosecutors confirmed Thursday that they will not seek to file charges against the person police suspect killed a Leawood man in May.
The body of Christopher McQueen, 27, of Leawood was found burned in a backyard in Lee’s Summit on Monday, May 7.
He had not returned to his Leawood home after work on the previous Saturday night. His black Jeep Cherokee was found by Kansas City, Missouri Police at a south Kansas City apartment complex.
Chris Depue with the Lee’s Summit Police Department said prosecutors returned the case file on March 23 and declined the filing of charges in the case.
Jackson County Prosecutor Mike Mansur told FOX 4 Thursday morning that police did present a file outlining a suspect in McQueen’s killing, but they did not have enough evidence to pursue prosecution.
Depue says the police investigation is concluded.
Police: Burned Body Case Connected to Missing Man
Police said they had been able to establish a timeline of McQueen’s whereabouts. They say that they know McQueen was at work late Saturday night and early Sunday morning, but never made it home. He was reported missing to Leawood Police later on that Sunday.
