KANSAS CITY, Mo. — An unruly passenger forced a flight from Albuquerque to Chicago to make an unexpected stop in Kansas City on Tuesday morning.

American Eagle Flight 3172 was forced to land after a passenger tried to exit the aircraft during the flight, airport officials said. Passengers told WLS-TV the man tried to light a cigarette on board the plane.

“He actually leaped over someone to get to the door,” the passenger told the TV station.

The passenger was removed by airport police.

However, WLS-TV reported the same main forced another plane to divert to Albuquerque on Monday after it took off from Las Vegas and was headed to Charlotte, N.C. The pilots said the man was “disruptive and unruly” during that flight.

Sixty-three people were on the flight, plus four crew members, WLS-TV reported. The flight landed at Chicago’s O’Hare airport just before 2 p.m. central.

No one was hurt in the incident.
