KANSASA CITY, Mo. — Kansas City’s City Union Mission wants to make sure everyone has a Merry Christmas. On Monday, the Mission’s Christmas store opens.

People who may have a hard time putting presents under the tree can come in and shop for themselves or their children. The items are wrapped and delivered to their homes on Christmas Eve.

The Mission anticipates helping more than 500 families every year. Participants must qualify on an income basis.

To make their gift giving possible, the city Mission depends on the generosity of others. The City Union Mission says it often runs short on items in the first two weeks of opening its Christmas store.

Anyone wanting to contribute can drop off donations at the store, located at 1700 East 8th Street in Kansas City, Mo.  Gifts can also be dropped off at the Mission’s Family Center on Wabash. Donations are being accepted until Dec. 10.
