KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Believe it or not – Tuesday was a popular day for weddings. Thousands of couples got married, saying “I do” because of the date – 11/12/13.
Tim Gilbert and Christina Davidson pledged to love each other for better or worse with KCMO’s City Hall as the backdrop for the romantic afternoon.
“He’s a very kind man, a very good man. The best man I’ve ever met,” Davidson said.
Like thousands of others who picked the sequential date, Gilbert commented that it was certainly an easy date to remember.
“I knew it’d be a date I’d always remember. I’d remember the day, the month and the year. If somebody asked me how long I’ve been married, I could tell me how many years it was,” Gilbert said.
Sequential dates are popular for brides and grooms. Reverend Gregory Clemons saw the trend, officiating four weddings on Tuesday.
“Some of them put some thought into it, but the trend more and more is, ‘Hey, let’s get married today.’ It seems to happen quite regularly,” Rev. Clemons said.
If you believe sequential dates make for a long and happy marriage — you better start looking for that special someone. The next big sequential date– and the last this century — is in 2014. The date 12/13/14 will more conveniently fall on a Saturday.
“I might have to take that day off just to do weddings,” Rev. Clemons said.
That’s too far away for Gilbert and Davidson who said they’re more than ready for their happily ever after.
“I think we waited a year too long anyway,” Gilbert said.
David’s Bridal estimated more than 3,000 couples exchanged vows on Tuesday. That’s eight times more than on the same date in 2012.
