MARYSVILLE, Calif. — A police department dispatcher got quite the shock when she realized the emergency call she had just answered was coming from her very own house.
According to FOX 4’s sister station, FOX 40, Britney Melchor, who works for the Marysville Police Department, received the call from her fiance, Robert Kimball, who called because their 14-month-old baby son, Maverick, was choking on a small, metal washer which was lodged in his throat. Kimball was not able to get it to go down.
Melchor responded in a shaky voice, which can be heard on radio traffic from that day, and dispatched help to the scene. As the ambulance was on its way, Kimball was able to dislodge the washer on his own.
Melchor was honored by the Marysville City Council for keeping her cool during the situation.
