An overnight storm caused damage all across the metro. High winds took down one tree that landed on a power line, knocking out power to thousands of residents in Merriam. One resident said he’s fortunate the tree didn’t land on his home.
But in Kansas City, Mo., one tree did land on a home. Residents in the area of 85th and Hiawatha were fortunate that no one was injured when the giant tree toppled over, crashing through the roof.
In all about 30,000 people lost power. By noon most of those who were without power had it restored. About 3,000 residents near St. Joseph remain without power at this time.
