BLUE SPRINGS, Mo. – More than three months after being shot in the head, the family of Springfield, Missouri, police officer Aaron Pearson says that he’s still recovering from his devastating injuries.
Pearson’s father spoke with FOX 4 for the first time since his son was injured in the line of duty.
“Aaron is still very positive and doing well and progressing pretty good,” said Winston Pearson. “I want to thank everybody from the bottom of my heart for the last 10 weeks. (It) couldn’t have ever been possible without the power of prayer and support and love that everybody has given him and us.”
Family said Pearson’s typical day is filled with doctor’s appointments and rehabilitation sessions. The elder Pearson told FOX 4 that his son was at a rehabilitation center in Atlanta but is finally back home in Springfield with his wife, two young children and his two dogs.
“He was so happy it was such a morale booster for him to get back to his friends and family, his dogs, his own house,” Pearson said. “It was really a positive thing for Aaron.”
His family says that Aaron Pearson is scheduled to undergo another operation next Tuesday.
Winston Pearson is a deputy sheriff in Jackson County, and said he had no idea his son would eventually follow in his footsteps.
“He got the bug from me I guess. He listened to my stories just a little bit more than I realized,” he said.
