Just over twenty weeks ago, my life changed FOREVER. I was now on a path that for so long I had both desired and feared. That path is parenthood! I’m having a baby!

I have feelings of joy, fear and excitement! Every decision that I make from this moment forward is for the betterment of someone greater than myself… my child. Wow! Talk about being overwhelmed. Do I have what it takes to be a good mother? Will I make mistakes? Will my child be safe in this crazy world? Those are just a few of the questions that ran through my mind for the first trimester of my pregnancy. Since then, I’ve grown more and more secure in the idea of motherhood with each passing day.

So here I am just over 20 weeks into my pregnancy and I can’t believe that I’m already halfway through it! I’ve felt the first flutterings in my belly, I’ve been through a few sonograms and doctor visits, found out the sex of the baby and even started working on the nursery! It’s been a wonderful journey so far and I’ve gotten lots of great advice from so many people. But here’s the thing… I still don’t know what I’m doing! My body is changing faster than my mind can process and the impending fear of what’s to come during birth (that every baby show on TV and YouTube instills) makes my heart jump! And that’s where this blog comes in.

This is a space where I can share my fears, my progress and pose my questions… to you. You all have been down this road or know someone who has, and I’m hoping that through my conversations with you here, I can gain from your wisdom and learn from your experiences. I know there are tons of blogs and websites out there with experts and book suggestions, etc. But there’s no better source of info than people like you. You know our city, the school systems, the best local baby stores, and the benefits and challenges of raising a child in Kansas City.

I hope that over the coming months you’ll join me in this journey. You’ll learn who I am on a much deeper level than what you see in our broadcasts and, hopefully, I’ll get a chance to get to know you as well! I invite you all to come along! Moms, dads, experts, and all of you who are going through this process right along with me.

I’ll be writing a new blog every week and responding to your post as often as possible. If you have questions or topic suggestions, feel free to email them to mary.pulley@wdaftv4.com. You can also like my Facebook page: facebook.com/marypulleynews to see photos and other things related to my pregnancy, my daily life, and the stories I cover at FOX 4. I can’t wait to talk to you all!
