KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A fundraiser will be held for a nationally known photographer who is now homeless in Kansas City. Jose Santa Cruz has spent 30 years behind the lens of a camera.
Now, he goes to the Kansas City Rescue Mission after having to sell his equipment piece by piece when he was diagnosed with cancer. He lost a kidney and couldn’t find work.
The benefit will be held on Thursday, February 2, 5-8 p.m., at The Levee, 16 W. 43rd Street in Kansas City, Mo. The benefit will raise money to pay the first two months’ rent and utilities for Jose. The Mission will hold the funds until Jose has a job that can sustain the apartment long-term.
