BONNER SPRINGS, Kan. — A manhunt of sorts is underway at a Kansas golf course. The search for a cow has people in Bonner Springs talking.
Golfers at Sunflower Hills Golf Course are searching for a cow who has left behind some unwanted presents.
“We know he has been up here because of where he has been leaving his souvenirs,” said Jeff Johnson, golf pro.
Some describe the cow as black while other say she’s brown.
“Our phantom cow has been on the loose for seven weeks and two days,” Johnson said.
A truck carrying dozens of cattle crashed on I-70 not far from the course in April. The driver of the semi along with dozens of cows died in the accident. This particular cow managed to get away and has made its home at the nearby golf course.
“He showed up on the Saturday after the accident up by the club house, by the ninth green. He was roaming around the green,” Johnson said.
Besides leaving behind unpleasant pies, the suspect is staying clear of the actual greens for one reason or another. People at the course set up a pin with corn, salt lick and water in hopes of capturing the cow. If that doesn’t work, the course hopes to find another way to capture their new pet.
