LIBERTY, Mo. — A hearing is on the docket for Tuesday in Clay County Circuit Court in the case against Bryan Middlemas, the man charged with killing AT&T technician Kevin Mashburn on September 19.
The hearing is set to begin at 1:30 p.m. in Liberty. No further details are available on the subject of the hearing, but many hearings occur before the actual trial begins.
In September, a judge entered a plea of not guilty on behalf of Middlemas.
Police say the 35-year-old killed Mashburn during a robbery, beating Mashburn with a crow bar.
Mashburn used the texting device inside his truck to try to get help, but it took about an hour for police to find him. He was parked in a yard in the 2700 block of 57th Terrace in Gladstone.

Middlemas has previously been in jail, spending two years for drug possession charges.
He faces a maximum punishment of two life sentences or death plus 15 years if he’s convicted of all charges. He is being held in the Clay County Jail in lieu of $1 million bond.
