A massive pothole caused damage to severeral cars along the city’s south side early Monday morning.

The pothole along 75th Street at Wyoming, between Ward Parkway and State Line, was caused by an apparent water main leak. Several unsuspecting drivers hit the pothole, causing flat tires and damage to their cars.

“I was just driving down the road and the bam,” said one driver, whose car suffered two mangled hubcaps. “I guess I’m gonna call the city.”

The hole was caused by a water main break that apparently began last week. City officials say that the hot summer caused a number of leaks along the city’s aging water system.
